How to winterize my rv | Winterizing an RV -
Winterizing an RV is a relatively easy process. We hope the following information will be useful.
1. Drain water from both fresh water and black and grey tanks.
2. Drain the hot water heating tank.
3. Screw air compressor into compressed air adapter in the fresh water inlet.
4. To winterize your rv apply compressed air to force remaining water out of the line. (This may require you to open each value, one at a time and flush individually.)
5. Pump antifreeze into the line either by inserting it into the water line or the water line adapter. (loacated between the fresh water pump and the the fresh water tank. (SEE Tips below)
6. Shut grey water value and then pour a few cups or RV antifreeze down each drain and toilet.
Tips and tricks
Installing a bypass values on your water heater, this will allow you to save 6-7 gallons of RV antifreeze every year. You can easily pay for the antifreeze after a few years of winterizing an RV just on the amount you save on RV antifreeze.
Also always use RV antifreeze, automotive antifreeze my be cheaper but you would never want to put this in your fresh water line since it is pretty toxic.
An easier my to winterize my rv
Just by draining the the water and pouring antifreeze down the sinks, drains and toilets.
1. Drain water from both fresh water and black and grey tanks. Drain water heater.
2. Apply compressed into the fresh water inlet valve by valve, forcing all the remaing water out of the lines. (adapter can be purchased at most RV stores)
3. Shut grey water value and then pour a few cups or RV antifreeze down each drain and toilet.
Winterize RV without an air compressor
If you do not have an air compressor adapter, you can just drain the lines and then add the antifreeze. The water in the lines won't freeze when the small bit of remaining water mixes with the antifreeze. (We hope) The water pump will suck up the RV antifreeze until the pressure in the line is adequate.
